About the KGK Wellness crawler

This page describes the web crawler operated by KGK Wellness, LLC, which reads the public product pages of kitchen equipment makers' own websites. It appears in server logs as KGKWellnessBot/1.0 (+https://kgkwellness.com/crawler; crawler@kgkwellness.com).

What it reads

Public product, category, care, materials and FAQ pages on a maker's own site, so that what the maker says about the materials and construction of its products can be quoted accurately, with attribution and a link to the page, in a consumer reference on the material safety of kitchen equipment. It reads pages that any visitor can open. It does not log in, does not create accounts, and does not read carts, checkouts or any page behind a login.

How it behaves

It reads robots.txt first and follows it, including any crawl delay, and never reads a path a site disallows. It reads each page once per capture cycle, with an interval of several seconds between requests to the same site, and never more than one request at a time. It does not bypass rate limits, blocks, CAPTCHAs or any other technical measure; if it is blocked, it stops. It identifies itself truthfully in every request.

What it keeps

A copy of each page as read, for the record, and the facts and short quoted statements taken from it. It does not copy images or reproduce a page.

If you would rather it did not read your site

Write to crawler@kgkwellness.com naming the site, or disallow it in robots.txt by its user agent name, and it will stop reading that site. A request by email is honoured from the day it is received and recorded, and the site is not read again unless you ask.

Questions about how a maker's statements are used, or a request to review what has been recorded about your products, can go to the same address.
